Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North, has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.
The appointment was confirmed in a statement from the Presidency on Wednesday, February 5, as part of the first batch of deputy ministerial appointments for the John Mahama-led government.
Jajah succeeds music executive Mark Okraku-Mantey, who held the position during the second term of the Akufo-Addo administration, and will now serve as deputy to Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, MP for Ketu South.
This appointment marks a significant milestone in Hon. Jajah’s public service career, solidifying his commitment to the development and progress of Ghana.
Born on October 21, 1979, in Bole, Savannah Region, and raised in Mamobi-Accra, Hon. Jajah has long advocated for economic empowerment, particularly in Zongo communities.
He holds three master’s degrees: an MBA in International Oil and Gas Management from the University of Dundee, an MPhil in Development Finance, and an MSc in Energy Economics from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He also earned a BSc in Finance with a focus on Accounting from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
A seasoned legislator, Hon. Jajah has served on key committees such as Finance, Roads and Transport, and Energy, Defense, and Interior. His expertise in financial management, energy policy, and infrastructure development has positioned him as a significant contributor to Ghana’s legislative framework.
As Deputy Minister, Hon. Jajah is poised to play a pivotal role in expanding Ghana’s tourism sector and promoting its rich cultural heritage, further driving the country’s economic growth. His appointment is a promising step in advancing Ghana’s development.
Meanwhile, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, MP for Asuogyaman Constituency, has been appointed Deputy Finance Minister, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi as Deputy Minister of the Interior, and Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini as Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, among other appointments.
