Hope For Every Child: World Vision Ghana targets 2.8 million children in 2026 to 2030 plan

World Vision Ghana has launched a five year strategy for 2026 to 2030 aimed at reaching about 2.8 million children across the country, with a focus on improving their health, education, protection and overall wellbeing.

The plan was unveiled at a high level event in Accra attended by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, and the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, alongside development partners and other stakeholders.

The initiative, themed Harnessing Opportunities for the Protection and Empowerment of Every Child, aims to address persistent challenges affecting children, particularly in rural and underserved communities where learning outcomes and access to basic services remain a concern.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Lartey said the strategy was timely and aligned with national development priorities. She said it reinforced a shared responsibility to ensure that every child, regardless of background, is protected and given the opportunity to thrive.

She noted that while the government remains committed to child welfare, issues such as malnutrition, child labour and gaps in education require stronger and sustained partnerships.

The minister added that her ministry, through its Departments of Children and Social Welfare, has been working closely with World Vision Ghana to strengthen family based care systems and community level responses to abuse, neglect and exploitation.

World Vision Ghana said the strategy is designed as a comprehensive response to long standing challenges, with a focus on helping children grow up in safe and resilient communities.

Dr Lartey called for broader collaboration among stakeholders, saying the success of the plan would depend on collective action.

A commemorative memento was unveiled during the event to symbolise renewed commitment between government and partners to advance the rights and welfare of children.

Organisers say the strategy marks a step towards deeper cooperation to ensure that no child is left behind in Ghana’s development.
