“I am out, I am unbroken” – Miracles Aboagye speaks after release from EOCO custody

Former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Edward Aboagye, popularly known as Miracles, has broken his silence after being released from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), insisting that his detention has not weakened his resolve to serve the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Aboagye, who was released after more than 48 hours in EOCO custody, said in a Facebook post that he remained “unbroken” and more determined to lead the NPP’s Communications Directorate.

“I AM OUT. I AM UNBROKEN. AND I AM MORE READY THAN EVER. THANK YOU PATRIOTS,” he wrote.

His release came after he was granted bail of GH¢50 million with three sureties, two of whom are required to justify their means.

EOCO arrested Mr Aboagye over investigations into alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities at the IMCCoD Secretariat, including claims of the suspected misappropriation of about GH¢55 million.

However, Mr Aboagye denied any discussions with EOCO regarding the GH¢55 million figure, describing the allegations against him as false.

“For the records, there was no discussion of any GH¢55 million cedis with me by EOCO. None,” he stated.

He also thanked NPP supporters who demonstrated and spoke out following his arrest, saying their actions strengthened his resolve.

“To every party faithful who hit the streets, who raised their voices, who refused to be silent, I saw you. I heard you,” he said.

Mr Aboagye added that attempts to intimidate or silence him had failed and pledged to continue with his ambition to lead the party’s communications team.

“If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly,” he said.

“I will lead New Patriotic Party’s Communications Directorate to command the narrative, and no cell, no false story, no intimidation will change that.”

EOCO, in a statement dated July 13, said its investigations followed a petition from the current Executive Secretary of IMCCoD requesting further investigations into a forensic audit covering the period from August 1, 2022, to February 2, 2025.

The office said the probe, which began after an initial forensic audit, focused on suspected misappropriation, misapplication, diversion and theft of public funds amounting to about GH¢55 million.

According to EOCO, Mr Aboagye, former IMCCoD Accountant Gerald Appiah and other individuals are being investigated for offences including conspiracy to steal, stealing, using public office for profit, causing financial loss to the state, defrauding by false pretences, money laundering and other related offences.

EOCO also stated that Mr Appiah had voluntarily started refunding some funds connected to the alleged offences, but stressed that the recoveries did not bring the investigations to an end or clear any suspect of possible criminal liability.

Mr Aboagye, who recently announced his intention to contest for the position of NPP National Communications Director, said he was ready to continue his political journey with renewed determination.

“This journey is no longer mine alone. It is ours. We move. Stronger. Louder. Together,” he said.

I AM OUT. I AM UNBROKEN. AND I AM MORE READY THAN EVER. THANK YOU PATRIOTS!

Four days ago, just one day after I declared my intention to serve our great party as National Communications Director, I was picked up and detained by EOCO. A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth, will prevail!!

FOR THE RECORDS: THERE WAS NO Discussion OF ANY GHc55million cedis with me by EOCO. None!!!

To every party faithful who hit the streets, who raised their voices, who refused to be silent, I saw you. I heard you. From my detention, word of your protests reached me, and it kept my spirit standing tall. You did not just defend Dennis Miracles Aboagye; you defended the principle that no voice can be intimidated into silence.

Let me be clear: if the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly. I will lead New Patriotic Party’s communications Directorate to command the narrative, and no cell, no false story, no intimidation will change that.

Fuel, has only been added to fire

To my legal team, party leadership, and every single supporter who stood with me, thank you.

This journey is no longer mine alone. It is ours.

We move. Stronger. Louder. Together.

Built to Lead. Ready to Win.
