I want lower prices, not more channels – Mpraeso MP on DStv Agreement

The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Opoku Ansah, has rejected the government’s announcement that DStv subscribers in Ghana will receive up to 50 percent more value from October 1.

The Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations Minister, Samuel Nartey George, had said that subscribers would benefit from additional channels at no extra cost after negotiations with Multichoice.

But Mr Opoku Ansah insists that what Ghanaians want is a reduction in subscription fees, not more content.

“I don’t want an increase in channels, I want to see a reduction in my price,” the legislator told Metro News.

He added that government must be transparent with the public about the agreement reached with Multichoice. “Government should publish the full details so Ghanaians know exactly what was negotiated on their behalf,” he said.

The debate over DStv pricing and value has been ongoing in Ghana for months, with many subscribers calling for lower costs in line with the country’s economic challenges.
