Former Dome Kwabenya constituency lawmaker, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has disclosed that she was a victim of character assassination during her time in office.
Madam Adwoa Safo revealed that she faced intense criticism and false narratives that impacted her reputation.
She explained in an interview with JoyNews on Thursday afternoon that at a critical point in her career, she suffered the tragic loss of her child, while her elderly son was also seriously ill in the United States.
To care for her family, Ms Safo decided to travel abroad, informing the necessary authorities and individuals about her situation before leaving the country.
However, despite her communication, her absence was misconstrued and portrayed as a violation of parliamentary procedures, leading to a backlash that resulted in her being subjected to character assassination.
Madam Sarah Adwoa Safo described the character assassination as unfair and damaging, stating that “there is a need to set the record straight…. reputation is anything anybody has got, things that were said about me have stuck in the minds of Ghanaians.”
She emphasized that she had been branded unfairly and owed it to herself to clear her name and let Ghanaians know her side of the story.
