I will retain my seat by winning 75% of votes – Hawa Koomson

Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mavis Hawa Koomson, says she has no shred of doubt about retaining her seat as a parliamentarian.

Hawa Koomson, who successfully filed her nomination forms with the Electoral Commission to contest again for the Awutu Senya East seat following three consecutive victories, told Metro News that she is confident about winning with a wide margin.

She says she will win by sweeping 75% of the total valid votes that will be counted on December 7, 2024.

Touting her achievements in the area of development, she pledged to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the Kasoa area before and during the voting day.

Hawa Koomson made her first appearance in 2012, when she rose from constituency women organizer to become the parliamentary candidate and swiftly beat the NDC’s Nuhu Adams.

She beat him again for the second time in 2016 with an increased margin of over 11,000 votes.

The margin, however, reduced to 5,553 votes when the NDC made a fresh introduction by fielding Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor in the 2020 elections.

Nonetheless, Hawa Koomson believes a fourth term for her in parliament is highly possible.
