Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says he is ready to consider the vacant Black Stars coaching position if the Ghana Football Association (GFA) believes he is the right man for the job and provides the necessary support.
Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed his willingness to take charge of the Black Stars should he be given the opportunity.
Ghana are currently without a substantive head coach following the reported departure of Carlos Queiroz after disagreements with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation over his demands.
The Black Stars are expected to regroup in September as preparations begin for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, putting pressure on the football authorities to appoint a new head coach.
Tanko has emerged as one of the potential candidates for the vacant position. The experienced coach previously served as an assistant to former Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah and has also worked with Ghana’s youth national teams.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Tanko made it clear that he would not turn down the opportunity if the authorities have confidence in his ability to lead the senior national team.
“If the Black Stars coaching opportunity comes and the authorities believe I’m the right man for the job, why not?” Tanko told Asempa FM.
