New Patriotic Party flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has pushed back at Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s claim that an internal party report absolved him of blame for the party’s 2024 election defeat.
Dr. Bawumia has pointed to reports led by Professor Mike Ocquaye and Osei Kyei Mensa Bonsu, insisting that the findings cleared him of responsibility for the NPP’s loss in the 2024 polls.
But in a Facebook post, Mr. Agyapong, the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, dismissed the claim.
“Over 1.7 million vote loss. Dr. Bawumia says it wasn’t the flagbearer, religion or tribe. He knows this because of the Mike Ocquaye’s report, which only he seems to have read,” Agyapong wrote.
He went on to challenge the Vice President directly, saying, “So, since you’re the sole custodian of the truth, please enlighten us.”
Dr. Bawumia is currently touring the Ashanti Region, while Mr. Agyapong is on the campaign trail in the Western North and Bono regions as both men continue to court support ahead of the NPP’s next internal contest.
