The results of Tuesday’s matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) are in, with several heavyweights making strong starts to the tournament.
Nigeria opened their Group C campaign with a 2-1 victory over Tanzania, thanks to goals from Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman. The Super Eagles showed composure to secure all three points in their tournament opener.
In the other Group C fixture, Tunisia recorded a convincing 3-1 win over Uganda. Elyes Skhiri and Elias Achouri were on target for the Carthage Eagles, with Denis Omedi also getting on the scoresheet.
Action continued in Group D, where Senegal delivered a dominant performance to defeat Botswana 3-0. DR Congo also picked up a narrow 1-0 win against Benin Republic to complete the day’s fixtures.
Attention now shifts to Wednesday’s games, with more action lined up in Groups E and F. Algeria will take on Sudan, while Burkina Faso face Equatorial Guinea. Cameroon are set to clash with Gabon, as defending champions Ivory Coast begin their title defence against Mozambique.
