Immigration officers shot in late-night attack at Nagani

Two Immigration officers are fighting for their lives after they were shot in an ambush at Nagani in the Tempane District of the Upper East Region late Sunday night.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. on November 2, when the officers were returning from night duty on a motorbike. According to local sources, armed men who had laid in wait opened fire on them without warning.

Both officers sustained critical injuries and were rushed to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga. Hospital officials say they are receiving emergency treatment.

The Ghana Immigration Service has not yet issued an official statement, but sources say a formal investigation is underway to identify the attackers and establish the motive behind the assault.
