Interior Ministry closes land borders ahead of December 7 polls

The Ministry of Interior has announced the temporary closure of all land borders effective immediately, ahead of the country’s general elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.

The closure, which will last until 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 8, 2024, aims to ensure the integrity and security of the electoral process.

“The Ministry urges all citizens, and travelers to and from Ghana, to cooperate with State Security Agencies enforcing this directive,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The move is part of measures to prevent any potential security threats and maintain peace during the elections.

The closure affects all land borders, and citizens and travelers are advised to comply with security personnel enforcing the directive.
