INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY: Ghana Falls to South Korea

The Ghana Black Stars lost their international friendly match against South Korea by a score of 1-0 in Seoul. The game was part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup. This means the Black Stars have now lost two friendly games in a row during their Asia tour.

Lee Tae-Seok scored the only goal of the game, giving South Korea the win.

Coach Otto Addo made several changes to the team that played Japan last week. New players included Benjamin Asare, Alidu Seidu, Gideon Mensah, and Prince Kwabena Adu. Overall, the team showed better play than they did in the game against Japan.

In the first half, neither team could score. Players like Kamaldeen and Caleb Yirenkyi took shots for Ghana, but the South Korean defense kept them out. The teams went into the halftime break tied at 0-0.

Ghana kept pushing for a goal after the break. However, South Korea got stronger and scored in the 63rd minute.

The goal came from a great cross by Lee Kang-In of PSG. Lee Tae-Seok finished it with a header at the far post.

Ghana nearly tied the score when substitute Brandon Thomas-Asante hit a powerful shot from far out, but it bounced off the goalpost.

Later, goalkeeper Benjamin Asare saved Ghana from going down 2-0 by blocking a penalty kick from Hwang Hee-Chang.

Ghana did put the ball in the net twice through Kwabena Adu and Jonas Adjei Adjetey, but both goals were correctly ruled offside. Despite all the late effort, Otto Addo’s team could not find the equalizer, and the match ended 1-0..
