The host of the Super Morning Show on Joy FM Kojo Yankson has registered his displeasure at the several reports of attacks on journalists under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s leadership.
He is appalled at the rampant reportage of such cases.
Mr. Yankson expected zero or fewer reports of such news with President Akufo-Addo who as a human rights lawyer championed the repeal of the criminal libel law.
Speaking to Annie Afua Ampofo on Metro TV’s Good Afternoon Ghana, the Morning Man as he is fondly called strongly condemned journalists’ brutalities which he describes as a worrying trend.
“Now, it is a shock that this would happen under all regimes, this one where we have a president who is a human rights lawyer, who as attorney general to repeal the criminal libel law. This is the person who is our president right now so it beggars belief that we have these problems under him,” Kojo Yankson said on Monday, October 9, 2023.
His comments come after some members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) invaded the United Television (UTV) studios during a live broadcast to demand an apology from one of the panelists, Kwame Obeng Asare, popularly known as A-Plus.
According to them, A-Plus had insulted the party, the president, and the vice president.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has arrested 16 persons who were among the thugs who invaded the UTV studios and they’re currently assisting with investigations.
