The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has vehemently condemned remarks by Ernest Frimpong, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Amenfi East, urging miners to attack military personnel.
In a video that has sparked widespread outrage, Frimpong encouraged miners to retaliate against soldiers at their mining sites, a statement the Regional Minister described as “unacceptable” and “dangerous”.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Wednesday, Mr. Titus Glover emphasized that attacking soldiers is never an option, as they are trained to protect the nation and its citizens.
He demanded an apology from Frimpong for his “irresponsible” comments.
The Ghana Armed Forces have also distanced themselves from Frimpong’s remarks, reaffirming their commitment to protecting the nation and its citizens.
Glover reiterated the importance of respecting and appreciating the service of soldiers, who are trained to protect the nation.
He urged citizens to desist from any actions that could put the lives of soldiers and civilians at risk.
The Regional Minister’s condemnation comes as a strong warning to individuals who may harbor intentions to attack military personnel.
The Ghana Armed Forces remain committed to their mandate of protecting the nation and its citizens.
