I’ve been playing out of position, but I put country first – Jordan Ayew

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has revealed he has been playing out of position for both his country and club, but his commitment to the team’s success remains unwavering.

Ayew, who scored a hat-trick in Ghana’s 4-3 win over Central Africa Republic (CAR) in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, expressed his preference for playing as a central striker (number 9) but acknowledged his versatility.

“I’ve always put my country first and never complained,” Ayew said after the game in Kumasi, which saw Ghana move top of Group I.

The 32-year-old attacker, who has been used in various positions for the Black Stars and his club side, emphasized his dedication to the team’s success, even if it means playing out of position.
