Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Mrs. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has stepped up development efforts across the constituency with a series of projects aimed at improving healthcare, education, security, economic opportunities and social welfare.
The projects, which are at various stages of completion, are being funded through the MP’s Common Fund, with support from the District Assembly, non-governmental organisations and local communities.
Speaking during a three-day tour of ongoing projects, the Amenfi Central MP said her focus is on improving living standards while creating sustainable opportunities for residents.
“Our vision is to transform communities, improve living standards, and create opportunities for sustainable development,” she said.
Healthcare remains one of the key areas receiving attention. Joana Gyan Cudjoe is continuing work on the Ankwaso CHPS Compound while overseeing the construction of new Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds at Sraha Ayiem, Ankasie, Jedua Kese, Adidaase and Hiawa.
She is also constructing a maternity block with a theatre at Manso Amenfi to improve maternal healthcare services in the constituency.
To strengthen security, new police stations are being built at Sraha Ayiem and Achichire.
The Amenfi Central MP is also investing heavily in education infrastructure. Ongoing projects include the completion of classroom blocks at Wuratrem DA Primary School and Ankasie DA Primary School, the construction of a new primary school at Kramokrom, a three-unit classroom block at Bantoma, a kindergarten block at Agona Camp and a three-unit Junior High School classroom block at Sompre.
In addition, she has launched the “Schools Under Trees Project” in partnership with an NGO to replace makeshift learning spaces with permanent classroom facilities for communities where pupils still study under trees.
Economic empowerment has also featured prominently in her development agenda.
Madam Joana Gyan Cudjoe is constructing a 24-hour Economy Market at Agona Amenfi and another market at Juabo to provide traders with improved facilities while creating employment opportunities.
To address teacher shortages in rural communities, she has employed 35 community teachers across 28 basic schools, paying them between GHS 800 and GHS 1,000 each month.
She also operates a block factory that employs young people, spending about GHS 40,000 every week on wages.
In a separate initiative, she sponsored 85 young people to participate in a Work Abroad screening exercise in Sekondi-Takoradi.
The Amenfi Central MP has also implemented social intervention programmes for vulnerable groups.
In August 2025, she supported 42 persons with disabilities with chest freezers, wheelchairs, sewing machines, cocoa spraying machines, fufu pounding machines and cash assistance.
The programme was carried out in collaboration with the District Assembly and the Department of Social Welfare to help beneficiaries improve their livelihoods.
On infrastructure, Madam Joana Cudjoe has encouraged young people to enrol in road construction training programmes, including block moulding, following government approval for major road projects in the constituency.
She has also been championing the reconstruction of the Anomatewa-Beposo bridge.
