Joseph Paul Amoah praises Ghana for successful hosting of African Games

Ghanaian sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah has praised Ghana for organising a successful 13th African Games.

According to Joseph Paul Amoah, as the nation basked in the glory of the success, it was important that stakeholders reaffirm their commitment to the promotion of sports as a tool for national development and unity.

He said the hosting of the Games has left Ghana with state-of-the-art sports facilities that makes Ghana a destination for international sports activities and urged heads of sports federations to take advantage of the facilities to develop their disciplines.

Per infrastructure and organisation I will give Ghana 9/10 ,
We felt bad when we gave the bragging right of the 4×100 relay to Nigeria
Am very happy to win Gold for Ghana and the first 200m gold medal since 1973,”Joseph Paul Amoah told Gideon Okyere Anim on Accra-based Original FM 91.9.

“I couldn’t get automatic qualification to Olympics games because the direction of the wind towards the finishing line at Legon prevented me so the Authorities should increase the stands of the stadium 🏟to prevent the wind.
Will work extra harder to qualify to Olympics when I go back to America,”Joseph Paul Amoah said.

Ghana hosted the multi-sport event for the first time with nine venues including a US$145 million Borteyman sports complex with over 5000 athletes competing in 29 sporting disciplines for the first time in the African Games- eight served as an Olympic Qualifier.

The 13th edition marks Ghana’s most successful participation since the Games’ inception in 1965, surpassing its previous best of 27 medals attained during the 1973 Games in Lagos, Nigeria.

Ghana won a total of 68 medals made up of 19 gold, 29 silver and 20 bronze.
