Justice Bapuuroh appointed Ag. Judicial Secretary after Cyra Koranteng’s exit

The Acting Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has assigned Justice Cyracus Badinye Bapuuroh to assume the duties of Judicial Secretary.

This decision follows the Judicial Council’s acceptance of Justice Cyra Pamela Koranteng’s request to be released from the position.

In a memorandum dated April 24, 2025, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie directed Justice Bapuuroh to take over the duties pending the Council’s decision and the eventual appointment of a substantive Judicial Secretary.

“Members Judiciary, the Judicial Service of Ghana and the general public are to take note accordingly,” the memorandum read.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie also extended his best wishes to Justice Bapuuroh in his new role.

The assignment is effective immediately, and Justice Bapuuroh is expected to oversee the administrative functions of the Judicial Secretary’s office until further notice.

Meanwhile, acting Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has issued a directive that centralizes the assignment and scheduling of court cases.

According to a memo dated April 23, 2025, all fresh court filings and applications must be brought to the attention of the Acting Chief Justice for court assignments and empanelment of judges.

The directive applies to Registrars of the High Courts, Courts of Appeal, and the Supreme Court.

The new guidelines also mandate that hearing dates be fixed under the supervision of the Chief Justice, effectively streamlining the court scheduling process.

The directive overrides all previous guidelines on court assignments and hearing schedules and will remain in force until further notice.
