A surge in child theft, abuse, and domestic crime in Kasoa and surrounding areas is putting a strain on the District Office of the Victim and Vulnerable Support Unit (DOVVSU), Metrotvonline.com has learned.
Despite the dedication of DSP Doris Laryea and her team, the regional DOVVSU command lacks essential resources, including a vehicle for operations, juvenile cells, and suitable interview rooms for traumatized victims.
The unit’s limitations have raised concerns among local residents, who are calling on the police administration and government to provide support.
A community member, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Metro TV: “The Kasoa DOVVSU plays a critical role in protecting our children and vulnerable individuals. They need basic tools to do their job effectively.”
The plea comes after the recent arrest of suspects in a high-profile child theft case in the area.
