Residents along the Kasoa-Winneba highway are expressing concern over the seeming disregard for their safety by Nag Firmount Constructions, the company contracted for the expansion and redesigning of the road.
Several houses in Gomoa Buduburam have suffered structural damages due to the continuous blasting of rocks by the contractor, while deep trenches dug within communities without adequate fencing have also become a concern.
Assemblyman for Buduburam Electoral Area, Emmanuel Dogbe, and Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, have expressed disappointment over the contractor’s failure to engage stakeholders and the community ahead of the project.
Meanwhile, residents of Gomoa Okyereko, Adawukwa, and Mampong are distressed following their homes’ flooding due to the Ayensu River’s diversion at the Okyereko Bridge.
The Gomoa East MP has set up a committee to manage the situation and seek help from benevolent entities.
