Former Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Sophia Akuffo has taken a swipe on Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta.
Mad. Sophia Akuff0 says the performance of Ken Ofori-Atta in managing the finances of the country has been very disappointing and nothing to write home about.
According to the former Chief Justice, the Minister of Finance and by extension government, promised to protect the public purse in their quest to win power. However, the government has been disappointing in this regard adding that the national coffers is now empty.
“All I know is that you were going to protect the national coffers, they are now empty. It has been very disappointing. If it were somebody else, I will still feel the same. The person who was given the responsibility to manage the economy, I don’t think he has done a good job,” Mad. Sophia Akuffo lamented.
Commenting on the size of government, she opined that some ministries are needless. She explained that the splitting of some ministries have not been helpful and hence it will be prudent for those ministries to be merged again.
The former Chief Justice said “I think so, there are many areas where there has not been much to show for. Somebody else should be asked to try it. And then there are some ministries that need to go back to their former partners.”
“There are some ministries that were split up. Transport (Ministry) included air, land, sea and whatever. But now we have taken everything apart. Minister of this, minister of that, deputy minister of this and that,” she added.
