Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has called for broader regional representation on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Executive Committee.
According to the lawmaker, ensuring that the various regions have adequate representation in the party’s national leadership will promote inclusiveness and neutrality in decision-making.
In a post on his Facebook page, Kennedy Osei Nyarko argued that the NPP must deliberately ensure that the different regions are represented on the National Executive Committee.
He listed the regional groupings that, in his view, should have representation as follows:
Ashanti Region
Eastern/Volta Regions
Greater Accra Region
Central Region
Western/Western North Regions
Northern Region
Bono/Ahafo Regions
“We must ensure that all these regions are adequately represented on the NPP national executive committee,” he stated.
The Akim Swedru MP believes a more geographically inclusive leadership structure could contribute to more balanced and neutral decision-making within the party.
He also argued that regional representation could help strengthen the relationship between the party’s national leadership and its grassroots supporters.
According to him, having representatives who understand the concerns and political dynamics of the various regions could make it easier for the party to mobilise support from its base, particularly during elections.
