Head Coach of the Women’s National Football Team, Kim Lars Björkegren, unveiled has a 23 debut squad for a 10-day training tour in Casablanca, Morocco.
The Black Queens’ technical team, 19 players, and management officials touched down in Casablanca, Morocco on Sunday, February 16th, ahead of their training camp and international friendly match whilst they await others to arrive later on Monday.
The squad list includes some foreign-based players Jennifer Cudjoe (DC Power FC), Evelyn Badu( FC Fleury 91), Azumah Bugre (Fenerbahce), and home-based players, Adama Alhassan (Army Ladies), Safiatu Salifu (FC Epiphany Warriors), Kerrie McCarthy (Kumasi Sports Academy), and Comfort Yeboah (Ampem Darkoa).
However, the players will take part in preparatory training that includes a training match and an international friendly against Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses on February 21 at the Père Jègo Stadium. Three days later, they will play Moroccan club side AS FAR Club. The players earned their spot in the squad list because of their outstanding performances in their respective clubs.
This is a pivotal moment for Coach Kim Lars Björkegren, as he takes charge of his first match, gaining a crucial opportunity to evaluate the team’s capabilities, identify areas for improvement, and set the stage for upcoming competitions.
