Kofi Adams nominated as Minister-Designate for Sports and Recreation

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Kofi Adams, the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency in the Oti Region, as the Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation.

His appointment was confirmed in a statement from the Presidency on Tuesday, as part of the list of ministerial appointments for the new government.

Kofi Adams replaces Mustafa Ussif, who served as Minister of Sports from 2021 under the Nana Akufo-Addo administration.

With a wealth of experience in both education and politics, Adams brings a diverse skill set to the role. He began his career as a tutor at Adisadel College and later served as the Spokesperson and Director of Public Affairs for former President Jerry John Rawlings.

Within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Adams has held several prominent positions, including Deputy General Secretary and National Organizer.

Currently, Adams is serving as the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, a position he has held since January 7, 2021. In Parliament, he is an active member of the Public Accounts and Defence and Interior Committees.

As Minister of Sports and Recreation, Adams’ primary challenge will be to address the state of Ghana’s sports infrastructure, which has faced criticism for being underfunded and inadequate.

He will also need to collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including the Ghana Football Association, to craft and implement strategies for advancing sports development and achieving excellence across the country.kofi-adams-nominated-as-minister-designate-for-sports-and-recreationkofi-adams-nominated-as-minister-designate-for-sports-and-recreation
