Kofi Tonto, aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has taken a swipe at Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A-Plus, for what he describes as a feeble and poorly justified apology issued to Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine.
A-Plus had previously accused Dr. Ayine of corruption but later issued a public apology—an act Tonto believes lacked sincerity and substance.
“Just imagine this abysmal apology and the bogus rationale under Akufo-Addo. All neutrals would have been out gun blazing telling us about how the Government coerced him. A-Plus, how can you tell us this story? Anadwo maana sem!” Tonto posted on his Facebook page.
According to Tonto, under the previous Akufo-Addo administration, civil society organizations (CSOs) and neutral voices would have vehemently rejected such an apology, viewing it as coerced or politically manipulated.
He suggested that the same voices who were once vocal under the former government have grown silent in the face of similar conduct under the current administration.
He questioned the credibility and rationale behind A-Plus’ apology, describing it as “abysmal” and “bogus.”
He emphasized that the political atmosphere has shifted to tolerate actions that would have previously attracted widespread condemnation.
