Koforidua Methodist Church Ghana donates sewing machines, cash to members

The Koforidua Diocesan Lay Movement of the Methodist Church Ghana has presented sewing machines and GH¢1000 each to some selected beneficiaries in the Diocese.

Mr John E. K Pratt, the Past Lay President of Conference, presented the sewing machines and the money to the beneficiaries selected from the circuits in the Koforidua Diocese during the 23rd Diocesan Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Bethel Methodist Chapel, Osiem in the Eastern Region.

The beneficiaries were drawn from the New Juaben, Akuapem Ridge, Akuapem South, Akyem North and Akyem South zones in the Diocese.

In an address, Mr Samuel Amo Duodu said the move aims to give support to members in need to learn a vocation.

He explained that equipping the youth with the necessary skills and knowledge would empower them to navigate the complexities of today’s job market.

This, he said, would help them to contribute meaningfully to the national economy.

Mr Duodu indicated that fostering entrepreneurship is vital and that encouraging innovation and providing support system for members to learn a skill would create a fertile ground for job creation.

He has called on all and sundry to support the Apprenticeship Support project to better the lives of the teeming youth to learn various vocations.

On his part, the Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana, the Rt. Rev. Dennis Joseph Boadu, lauded the initiative and pledged his support to the Apprenticeship Support project.

To this end, the Rt. Rev. Boadu urged the teeming youth to take advantage of the initiative and be self-employed.
