Korle Bu brightens Christmas for patients with improved meals and hampers – PHOTOS

Patients at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital spent Christmas feeling a little more at home after management rolled out a set of simple but thoughtful initiatives to improve comfort on the wards.

As part of the effort, the hospital introduced individual bowl packaging for all patient meals, covering breakfast, lunch and supper. The change, implemented through the Catering Unit, is aimed at improving hygiene while making mealtimes more pleasant for patients.

The Head of Catering, Mrs Nicole Korto, said the move had been a long-standing goal for the unit and reflects a more modern approach to food service.

She explained that the new packaging also gives patients greater flexibility to eat when they are ready, rather than rushing meals.

To add to the festive mood, all inpatients received Christmas hampers filled with fresh fruits, coated nuts, assorted drinks and traditional Christmas cake.

Many patients welcomed the gesture, describing it as timely and heart-warming, especially for those spending the holidays away from their families.

Hospital management said the initiatives form part of Korle Bu’s commitment to holistic care, which looks beyond treatment to the overall wellbeing of patients. They also wished all patients a speedy recovery and a Merry Christmas.
