Korle Bu receives new anaesthesia machines from Health Minister

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has donated eight new anaesthesia machines to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as part of a nationwide effort to improve medical equipment in public hospitals.

Speaking during the presentation, the Minister acknowledged the challenges facing the country’s health facilities, particularly the shortage of essential equipment.

He said the donation marks the beginning of a broader plan to retool hospitals across Ghana.

“We recognise that there are gaps when it comes to equipment in our health facilities. So as part of retooling our health facilities, we are distributing 50 anaesthesia machines, starting with eight for Korle Bu,” Mr Akandoh said.

The initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of major hospitals to deliver safe and effective surgical care. Korle Bu, being the country’s premier referral hospital, was chosen as the first beneficiary of the distribution.
