Ghanaian star Kuami Eugene threw his weight behind rapper Medikal to claim Artiste of the Year at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) in an interview on Hitz FM on May 2026.
Eugene praised Medikal’s raw talent and massive, dedicated fanbase, saying it sets him apart. “I think Medikal will win this year’s TGMA because he’s a good musician with the masses behind him and if he caps off a successful year, he’ll definitely take it,” Eugene stated.
While acknowledging loyal fans for other artists, Eugene highlighted the unique “ambience” and scale of Medikal’s following.
Medikal has aggressively campaigned for the award, touting his 2025 feats multiple hit songs, a new album, and a self-funded GH¢3 million concert at Accra Sports Stadium. He’s told fans he “outperformed every artiste” last year with no real challengers, insisting his 2025/2026 efforts make him the clear frontrunner.
Eugene cautioned that the race remains fierce, with powerhouses like Wendy Shay, Black Sherif, and Stonebwoy also dominating.
As the 2026 TGMA nears, Medikal’s fan momentum and output fuel the buzz around his potential victory.
