Kurt vows to fix Ghana football

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku has issued an apology following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Black Stars concluded their qualifiers for the 2025 AFCON with a 2-1 deat to Niger, which confirmed Ghana’s position at the bottom of Group F, marking a historic low point in their football history as they failed to secure a single win in six games.

After the match, Kurt Okraku expressed his pain and disappointment, emphasizing that his organization will do everything possible to rectify the situation: “From the highest heights of world football on the 29th of March 2022 to the lowest ebb of AFCON qualifying matches. My heart bleeds.

“Definitely, this is not what we want or what we bargained for. At this point, only cool heads can prevail, and we as leaders of our sport will stay together, be honest with ourselves, and fix this problem.”

Despite the setback, Okraku remains optimistic, calling for calm and collective efforts to address the team’s underperformance. He highlighted the importance of patience and honesty in tackling the issues at hand.

“The road to full recovery after normalization is definitely bumpy and rough, but our collective efforts and patience will lead to success, and Ghana, our beloved country, will triumph.

“As a Black Stars fan and as the leader, I share in your pain and in our pain. We will rise from this temporary setback; it shall be well.”

Meanwhile, the Executive Council of the GFA will hold a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the team’s underperformance and make critical decisions regarding coach Otto Addo’s future.
