Kingmakers of Kwawu Abene have unanimously destooled Kwahuhene Daaasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II.
The decision, made on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Kwawu Palace, follows allegations of gross misconduct.
The Bank of Ghana directed Daaasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II, then Board Chairman of Agricultural Development Bank, to step down after being implicated in a GH¢2 million extortion scandal involving businessman Collins Darkwah Aboagye, Director and shareholder of PRABHAT Trading Limited.
“Nananom, Daaasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II, is no longer the King of Kwawu. We assure you that we will find another formidable replacement for the benefit of all indigenous people in Kwawu,” Nana Asiedu Kwabeng IV, declared the position vacant.
The kingmakers performed traditional rites to formalize the destoolment, marking the end of Daaasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II’s reign as Kwahuhene.
