Kwesi Pratt slams Finance Minister’s apology, says it’s time for results

Founding editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has dismissed Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam’s plea for forgiveness over the country’s economic downturn, saying it is time for results not apologies.

“If we are in the business of apologizing and accepting apologies and so on, why then did we vote John Mahama out? We could have forgiven him; we could have forgiven John Mahama. If we forgive governments which mess us up, we could have forgiven everybody. It is not about forgiveness,” Kwasi Pratt Jr. stated on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV.

He emphasized that the mandate of the government is to fix the economy, not to run it down.

“If you come and you are incapable of performing the tasks and achieving results for us, we show you the door, you move out. It’s not about forgiveness.”

Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, during a townhall meeting in Accra on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, attributed the economic challenges to external factors, specifically the Russia-Ukraine war and Covid-19 pandemic, rather than bad governance.

However, Kwesi Pratt’s comments suggest that the government’s performance, not external factors, should be the focus.
