A 37-year-old man has been stabbed to death in an alleged dispute over a GH¢30 electricity bill in Medie Ketewa in the Ga West Municipality, according to police.
The deceased, identified as Opoku Agyemang, a father of three, is said to have been killed on Tuesday after an argument with his landlord, Kofi Koranteng, reportedly escalated during a discussion about unpaid utility charges.
Residents say the two men were not only landlord and tenant but also close friends and long-time work colleagues, a detail that has left many in the community in shock.
An eyewitness, Enoch Idan Danquah, said the landlord invited Opoku into his room to resolve concerns over how electricity bills were being handled. He said the conversation later turned violent.
According to witnesses, Kofi Koranteng, 50-year-old landlord, allegedly attacked the tenant with a machete, stabbing him multiple times during the confrontation.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene immediately after the incident and has not yet been arrested.
The matter has been reported to police, and officers from the Kotoku Police Command have conveyed the body to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
