Let’s champion development in Volta Region – Council of State member tells MMDCEs

A Volta Region Council of State member, Mr Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko, has called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Volta Region to come together to champion the development agenda of the region.

Mr Tanko made the call in an interview with the Eastern Regional Correspondent of Metro TV , Mr Samuel Kwesi Appah-Peniel, after his engagement with the MMDCEs from the Volta Region, who paid a courtesy call to his office following their orientation in Accra over the weekend.

He assured the MMDCEs of his full support and reaffirmed his commitment to championing the interests of the Volta Region.

“My office is actively engaging with both local and international partners to ensure that our collective efforts translate into real and lasting progress for our people,” he pointed out.

Mr Tanko indicated that the visit by the MMDCEs was a powerful statement of unity, shared responsibility, and a collective desire to see the Volta Region thrive.

He commended them for their commitment to service, knowing that, together, they can carry the hopes of their community members.

He told Metro News that the MMDCEs collectively raised key development concerns across their districts, emphasising agriculture, aquaculture, tourism, industrial growth, and infrastructure.

“Their submissions reflected not only a deep understanding of their local challenges but also a shared urgency to change the development narrative of the Volta Region,” Mr Tanko stated.

They, therefore, indicated that the region had long endured a pattern of neglect under successive political regimes, often being ignored in national development priorities.

“As an individual, I left the meeting deeply inspired by the unity and a sense of purpose displayed by the MMDCEs. This oneness reaffirmed my belief that meaningful change is possible when leaders work together,” he said.

“Through collaboration, strategic partnerships, and tireless advocacy, I assure you leaders that we will transform challenges into opportunities and move our region forward; one bold step at a time,” he added.
