Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, has warned against comparing the achievements of different presidential regimes, emphasizing that each has its unique strengths and accomplishments.
His comments come after Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, sparked a heated debate by comparing President Akufo-Addo’s achievements to those of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
“Since independence from 1957 till today, we’ve not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I say from 1957 till today, you can bring your Kwame Nkrumah… no president who has protected Ghana and moved the country forward like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” Opoku Prempeh said.
However, Dr. Adomako Kissi has cautioned against downplaying the achievements of other presidents, stating that “every president has their own strengths and achievements, and it’s challenging to compare one to another.”
He criticized Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s comments, saying they came across as dismissive of Kwame Nkrumah’s contributions, which is unfortunate.
“These days, we don’t communicate in a way that downplays others’ achievements. I hope he will clarify his statements soon.”
Dr. Adomako Kissi’s remarks highlight the sensitivity of comparing presidential legacies, emphasizing the need for a nuanced understanding and respect for each leader’s contributions to Ghana’s development.
