Member of Parliament for Asene Manso Akroso, George Kwame Aboagye, says government must remain vigilant even as the country enjoys stable power supply.
Speaking to Metro News, the MP said Ghanaians are happy that “the lights are stable” but cautioned that this is not the time for authorities to “go to sleep.”
External Communications General Manager of ECG, Dr Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, in the same interview, addressed the issue of the missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers, describing the incident as the result of weak enforcement of procurement processes. He noted that the system has since been tightened to prevent a repeat of such lapses.
He also confirmed that about 1,000 missing containers have been retrieved. He said the recovery will help boost electricity supply and improve service delivery.
The developments come at a time when the country continues to watch the power sector closely, as both government and ECG move to assure the public of consistent and reliable supply.
