Akim Swedru Member of Parliament, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to see electoral defeat not as a dead end but as an opportunity for growth and transformation.
Speaking in the wake of the party’s recent challenges, the MP emphasized that no political party is immune to setbacks, but how they respond defines their future.
“Losing power is not fatal,” he said. “It rather makes you correct your mistakes and prepare better for the future.” Citing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as an example, he pointed to their dramatic turnaround after the 2016 electoral defeat—a loss many believed would keep them out of power for a long time.
“Today, they are back in power. That’s a lesson in resilience.”
He praised the leadership of the NPP and the 2024 Presidential candidate for openly admitting the party’s shortcomings and seeking forgiveness from the Ghanaian people. “This level of honesty and humility is what we need to rebuild trust and position ourselves for a stronger comeback,” he noted.
Mr. Osei Nyarko urged party members and supporters to focus on unity, introspection, and strategic planning, stating that success in future elections will depend on how well the party learns from its past.
