Low attendance so far at day 2 of Occupy Julorbi House protest

The day-two of the #OccupyJulorBiHouse protest in Accra to demand an end to the economic crisis has witnessed a low turn out so far.

The number of people on the streets are underwhelming juxtaposed to the turnout on the first day.

This comes after police greeted the peaceful protestors on Thursday with forceful arrests and detentions causing uproar and criticisms of the security agency.

During the Thursday protest, many including Metro TV’s Bridget Otoo and Vanessa Edotom Boateng were manhandled by the police personnel who described the protest as “illegal assembly”.

Bridget Otoo was dragged to the premises of the Accra Regional command and got her dress torn.

Vanessa, on the other hand, was attacked for filming the police personnel brutalizing the peaceful protestors in board daylight. In the process, her phone was seized and files of the events she had captured deleted.

On day-two of the protest, Ignite Media Group reporters on the grounds say one could count the number of protestors without stress.

The reason for the low turnout is obviously the unprofessional behavior of the Police personnel on Thursday.

However, the low turnout has not been a worry to the organizers. They are on the streets calling on the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to salvage Ghanaians from the untold hardships they are facing due to his mismanagement.

Meanwhile, there have been some popular new faces showing up at the protest.

Ghanaian celebrities including rapper EL, singer Kelvin Boy and actress and model Efia Odo have been spotted at the demonstration grounds.
