Former President John Mahama has criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for failing to fulfill promises made to the people of Shama, accusing him of deceiving both God and the community.
Mahama’s remarks came during a campaign stop in Shama, where he expressed his solidarity with the chief and residents who have voiced frustration over uncompleted projects, particularly a promised hospital.
Speaking at a rally as part of his ongoing #Mahama4Change campaign, Mahama recalled how the Akufo-Addo administration made lofty promises but left the community with nothing but a “hole.”
According to Mahama, the president had initiated a project to build a church, but the site remains incomplete – referencing the installed National Cathedral project.
“Nana Addo dug a hole to build a church for God, but just like in Shama, he promised to build a hospital and ended up with just a hole,” Mahama said.
The chief of Shama, who had previously appealed to Mahama for assistance, reiterated the community’s disappointment. He pleaded with Mahama to prioritize building a hospital in Shama if elected, pointing out that the current government’s promises have not been followed through.
Mahama, addressing the crowd, promised that under his leadership, genuine development would be a priority.
“Trust me, I will deliver what has been promised. If elected, I will ensure that Shama gets the hospital it deserves,” he assured.
