The Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, popularly known as “MahamaCares,” Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has shared a reassuring update on the rollout of the programme, revealing a network of health facilities across the country already delivering care to patients.
Speaking during the Government’s Accountability Series on Monday, May 11, she explained that the Fund was created to mobilise dedicated financing for the treatment of chronic and life-threatening conditions such as cancer, kidney disease, and other long-term illnesses that place heavy financial pressure on families.
According to her, the programme is not just a policy on paper—it is already active, with several major hospitals and specialist centres enrolled to provide care under the scheme.
