Former President John Dramani Mahama has condemned the actions of Lydia Seyeram Alhassan, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, over her involvement in distributing food to voters during the recent special voting exercise.
Mahama described the act as a clear violation of Ghana’s electoral laws, emphasizing that distributing food to voters while they are in line to cast their ballots is both unethical and illegal.
He also criticized the recording of videos or photographs during the process, which he stated further undermines the integrity of the election process.
Addressing a mini rally in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region, Mahama urged political parties, candidates, and their supporters to respect the rules and ensure that the sanctity of the voting process is maintained.
“Such actions go against the principles of fairness and transparency that are critical to our democracy,” Mahama said.
“We must all work together to ensure that the electoral process remains free, fair, and credible.”
