Mahama “Descends” On President Akufo-Addo Over Demolition Of La General Hospital

Aspiring flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former President, John Dramani Mahama has taken a swipe at President Akufo-Addo over the demolition of the La General Hospital.

As part of his tour in the Greater Accra Region to canvass for votes ahead of the upcoming NDC flagbearer primaries, the former President visited La.

In his interactions with the people, Mr. Mahama noted that he cannot fathom the decision to demolish what was a fully-fledged La General Hospital serving the La and surrounding communities in Greater Accra.

Addressing supporters, branch, and constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the La Dadekotopon and Klottey Korle Constituencies today, former President Mahama said: “in a classic case of government’s deceit of the people, President Akufo-Addo, ahead of the 2020 elections, cut sod to commence work on the project. Three years later, work is still yet to start, denying the people healthcare and destroying the businesses of many who provide services in and around the facility”.

The erstwhile La General Hospital was upgraded from a Polyclinic into a General Hospital by President John Mahama during his tenure as President.

However, the hospital was razed to the ground in 2019 with the aim to expand and improve access to quality healthcare for the people of La and its surrounding communities.
