Mahama is not the solution to our problems – Buaben Asamoa

The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Yaw Buaben Asamoa, says although the country is faced with economic challenges, former President Manama and the opposition NDC are not the solutions Ghanaians seek.

Mr. Buaben Asamoa said the former President’s mismanagement of the economy during his tenure is a clear indication that he lacks the credibility to be trusted to help transform the economy in its sorry state.

“Former President Mahama was the architect-in-chief of the financial sector bubble and its collapse – simplicita. He can never run away from putting us on the path to mega debts. The difficulties are real, the issues are real. Fuel prices are real but John Mahama and the NDC are not the solutions,” he stated.

“The CDD post-election survey is very clear. All told, only 35% of the people surveyed voted for the NDC because of performance,” Buaben Asamoa averred.

The 2020 presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, in climaxing his ‘Thank You’ tour on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, described the current economic situation under the Akufo-Addo-led government as tragic.

His statement, however, did not pass without a reaction from the governing New Patriotic Party.

Addressing a press conference in Accra, on November 11, Mr. Buaben Asamoa ripped the former President apart for criticizing the incumbent administration, noting that John Mahama is making outrageous utterances to win power and nothing better.

Unemployment

Yaw Buaben Asamoa said Ghana currently has no capacity to create more jobs in the public sector as promised by former President Mahama.

“In his speech yesterday, he complains about the gap in financing of the public wage bill. There he goes on to state he’s going to create one million jobs in the public sector. How is he going to fund those jobs?” Yaw Buaben Asamoa wondered.

He added, “In some ways, the near-impossible promises show an unprepared John Mahama selfishly seeking your mandate by exploiting your current difficulties.”

Corruption

The Director of Communications of the NPP noted that the former president is the embodiment of corruption with his track record as president.

“Former President Mahama talks about corruption on his ‘thank you’ tour campaign trail. He’s asking Ghana to give he John Mahama, the walking embodiment of corruption, the mandate to come and fight corruption. His solution to fighting corruption in his critical actions paper of 2012, was that he’ll lead by example. That was his solution to fighting corruption.

“This example had to be investigated by his own President for doubtful aircraft procurements. He’s implicated as government official one in the Airbus bribery scandal, and signed off on 1.2 billion dollars to deliver a project eventually done for 4.6 million dollars; a difference of 2600% in savings,” he recounted.

Yaw Buaben Asamoa said the Akufo-Addo-led government has performed better than the erstwhile Mahama government and would continue to deliver on their mandate regardless of economic hardships occasioned by Covid 19.
