Mahama names Prosper Bani to head 6-member interim national security team

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has unveiled a six-member Interim National Security Coordinating Team, tasked with overseeing and coordinating national security issues until substantive appointments are made.

The team, set to begin its mandate on January 7, 2025, will be led by former Minister for the Interior, Prosper Douglas Bani.

Other members include Lt. General Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd.), former Chief of Defence Staff; Kofi Totobi Quakyi, former Minister for National Security; Larry Gbevlo-Lartey Esq., former National Security Coordinator; Brigadier General Fuseini Iddrissu (Rtd.); and COP Nathaniel Kofi Boakye (Rtd.).

This move comes ahead of Mahama’s inauguration as President of Ghana on January 7, 2025, marking his return to the presidency after previously serving from 2012 to 2017.
