The President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has nominated seven justices of the Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court.
This move is pursuant to Article 144(2) of the 1992 Constitution, which outlines the process for appointing Supreme Court justices.
The nomination was contained in a statement dated April 29, 2025, signed by Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama.
The nominees are:
1. Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjel
2. Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh
3. Justice Senyo Dzamefe
4. Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo
5. Justice Philip Bright Mensah
6. Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo
7. Justice Hafisata Amaleboba
The nominations are expected to bolster the Supreme Court’s capacity to handle complex legal matters and ensure the timely dispensation of justice.
