President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, a renowned economist and chartered accountant, as the Minister for Finance Designate.
This announcement was made in a statement released by the Presidency on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
According to the statement, Dr. Forson brings extensive experience in public finance, macroeconomics, fiscal policy, tax policy, and business management to the finance ministry.
His impressive educational background, which includes a PhD in Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Master of Science degrees in Taxation and Economics from the University of Oxford and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, respectively, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from London South Bank University, makes him an ideal candidate for the position.
As a five-term lawmaker, Ato Forson has demonstrated his commitment to public service and has played key roles in various parliamentary committees, including the Finance Committee, House Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and Committee of Selection Committee.
In addition to Ato Forson’s nomination, President Mahama also announced John Abdulai Jinapor as Minister for Energy-designate and Dominic Akuritinga Ayini as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice-designate.
