President John Dramani Mahama has sanctioned government appointees who failed to declare their assets by the March 31 deadline and will face sanctions.
The appointees will forfeit three months’ salary, which will be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as MahamaCares.
This initiative provides financial assistance to individuals living with chronic diseases nationwide.
Defaulting appointees will lose a total of four months’ salary, considering they were already expected to commit one month’s salary to the health initiative.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister in Charge of Government Communications, warned in a Facebook post that defaulters have until the close of May 7 to comply or face immediate dismissal.
“President Mahama sanctions appointees who defaulted on asset declaration by 31st March. They are to forfeit 4 months’ salary and donate the same to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund,” he noted.
He added, “All defaulters have up to close of day tomorrow to declare their assets or they stand automatically dismissed.”
