Mahama outlines economic revitalization plans: focus on stability and growth

President John Dramani Mahama outlined his administration’s comprehensive plan for economic revitalization during his speech at the 92nd Annual Jalsa Salana.

Addressing the nation’s economic challenges head-on, Mahama committed to stabilizing the economy, reducing inflation, and restoring confidence in the Ghanaian currency.

Mahama spoke at length about the pressing need for economic reforms that would ease the burden on ordinary citizens.

He promised to implement a homegrown fiscal policy designed to reduce the tax burden on individuals and businesses while focusing on efficient revenue generation.

A key element of this policy is to integrate the informal sector into the formal economy by bringing more businesses into the tax net. This, Mahama believes, will ensure a fairer distribution of the tax burden and help increase government revenue without overburdening the population.

President Mahama also highlighted the importance of job creation and economic diversification. As part of his broader economic agenda, Mahama unveiled the 24-hour economy policy, modeled after successful global examples, which he argued would create sustainable jobs, modernize the economy, and unlock the country’s growth potential.
