President John Dramani Mahama has approved a number of appointments and reassignments at the National Security Council Secretariat as part of efforts to reorganise the institution.
The changes, announced by Presidential Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu, include the appointment of former Chief of Army Staff, Major (Rtd.) General William Ayamdo, as Deputy National Security Coordinator in charge of Operations.
President Mahama has also appointed former National Security Coordinator, Yaw Donkor, as Director of Intelligence and Research at the Office of the National Security Advisor.
The appointments, the statement said, form part of the “reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat.”
Mr Donkor, who previously served as National Security Coordinator, will now take up the intelligence and research role under the Office of the National Security Advisor.
Other appointments announced include Mr Adamu Saaka, who has been named Director of Logistics and Transport, while Ms Faustina Effah-Boadi has been appointed Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department.
DCOP (Rtd.) Peter Ndekugri has also been appointed Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit.
Meanwhile, ACP Alhassan Osman has been reassigned to the Ghana Police Service “for further deployment.”
The Presidency said the changes take immediate effect.
