Mahama Urges Ghanaians To Unite For National Progress During Eid ul Adha

President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to use the occasion of Eid ul Adha to reinforce national unity and recommit to building a prosperous and inclusive future for all citizens.

In a message shared through the Presidency’s official communication channels, the President highlighted the spiritual essence of Eid ul Adha—marked by sacrifice, obedience, and compassion—as a powerful reminder of the values needed to overcome Ghana’s current challenges.

“Let’s use this celebration to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood and the commitment to work together to build the Ghana we want,” President Mahama stated.

The message called on citizens to mirror the selflessness of Prophet Ibrahim, whose willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God is at the heart of Eid’s significance. Mahama stressed that this spirit of personal and collective sacrifice must be embraced by all Ghanaians if the country is to make meaningful strides in social and economic development.

At a time when Ghana faces significant economic pressures, the President’s message resonates as a call for unity, solidarity, and shared responsibility.

Eid ul Adha, one of the holiest festivals in the Islamic calendar, is a time of prayer, reflection, and generosity. President Mahama encouraged all Ghanaians—not just the Muslim community—to adopt its principles as part of a broader national ethos.

“As we mark this holy occasion, let us reaffirm our common humanity and commit to a future shaped by peace, cooperation, and mutual respect,” he concluded.
